Tamil Nadu's Srikakulam Jamdani Weaving
The main goal of the year-long project Khadi, a Canvas is the intricate replication of Varma's most well-known works of art woven on the sari's pallu using the Srikakulam Jamdani technique. Shah's team created 600 different natural dye tones and dyed more than 200 kg of yarn to reproduce the colours seen in the images. The Srikakulam technique, in contrast to other weaving techniques like Banarasi, Paithani, or Bengal Jamdani, entails placing 6 metres of design paper under the cloth the weaver uses to produce templates.
